Pancakes, Pancakes, Pancakes...

Yes, today is Pancake Tuesday...or Fat Tuesday as many people refer to it as.  And like every other year our Granddaughter's school was serving pancakes to the students for breakfast!

Our DIL had asked me last week if I could volunteer with her to cook them as they didn't have enough people to help. My answer...."of course I will!"

Now knowing what I know about both granddaughters and their aversion to boxed pancake mixes, and knowing that the school uses boxed pancake mix, this grandma made her own pancakes on the weekend, froze three for each of the girls, and brought them to school this morning so they could enjoy pancakes with everyone else....hehehe!

Our DIL just zapped them in the microwave and brought the girls their breakfast.  Of course the youngest, who is in Senior Kindergarten, was only supposed to get one as that's all the little kids get....she would not be happy.  Her mom gave her two of the three I had made for her and the class all groaned at the unfairness of it all LOL!

Her older sister, in grade two, shared one of hers with her friend who thought they were better than the boxed pancakes too....so all in all it was a great morning!

Mom brought Hailee into the "kitchen" to see me as I was cleaning up the mess I made and I got some hugs and kisses that were much needed as they were away for four days in Ottawa.

Don't worry....on our way out we stopped off at the senior Kindergarten class to see Hannah so I could get more hugs and kisses.  They're so easy to love...and that's why

Smile....

What a wonderful surprise we received in our email this morning!  Will you just look at those beautiful youngest grandbabies of ours :)

I told you she's smart! She's already
smiling at her big brother :)

We're heading down this weekend to celebrate Keelan's third birthday...he'll actually be 3 on Wednesday. And believe it or not, little Aislin will already be a month old on Wednesday!

Can hardly wait to get my hands on both of them LOL!

Swish, swish, swish....

Well, maybe not quite swish, swish, swish....not yet. More of a grunt, groan, bang as our grandson Cade went skating for the first time this morning...hehehe!

Just woke up from a nap and ready to go.
Come on daddy!

Well okay....as long as grandpa carries me to the
rink I'll be ready LOL!

I don't think he was really impressed with the whole thing, but he did do well by the time he got off and was able to get about 10 feet on his own with his little support stand :)

LOL....don't let me fall daddy!

Daddy even tried bribing him with a LARGE hot chocolate if he went out one more time. We all had a good laugh when Cade said he wanted a small hot chocolate ROFL!!!

We all could have used some hot chocolate as it was on an outdoor rink and the winchill was around -20....brrrrrr!

I'm positive, with a wee bit more practice,  you'll be "swishing" around that rink in no time Cade :)

Must Love Grandkids...

LOL...yes, I had to use the name of my blog for this little post :)  Last night our oldest son and his wife came over for a sauna. As we were talking before they went down for their sauna, they were telling us about a couple things with the kids....actually, with the granddaughters...hehehe!

Miss Hailee, believe it or not, is known for the occassional hissy fit, and last night was no exception.  She was giving mom and dad a rough time, went into her room, slamming the door behind her and yelling "I'm going to go live with grandma!" LOL!  Mom and Dad couldn't remember the expression Hailee used before saying this, but they were laughing as they told us.  Hailee gives new meaning to the phrase "Drama Queen", and she's only 7 years old!  She already emailed me a picture of the cake she wants for her birthday....in July LOL!

Our wonderful DIL said she bought a bunch of VDay decorations and put them up yesterday....with a few little things down in the rec room. I guess it wasn't enough for little sister Hannah and she complained to mom why there weren't more decorations downstairs.  Not liking mom's explanation, Hannah fired back with "Well grandma decorates everywhere, even downstairs!" LOL!

Oh my, those girls are going to be really something when they become teenagers!

Out of the mouths of babes....and grandchildren.

As I always say....Must love Grandkids :)

Let the Fun Begin...

Grandpa and I are going to have a fun day!  Hailee, Hannah and Cade are coming over for a sleepover...yipeeeee!  All three haven't been here for a sleepover since New Years Eve!

This morning after swimming lessons they stopped in for a quick visit with their cousin Isabella. She likes to come here to visit and was worried she would have to go home before she had a chance to come :) She had a sleepover last night with the Grandkids.

Hmmm...would you like a knife
for that pancake Hannah? LOL!

Isabella sure loves to visit here :)

Hey Hailee, what's so finger licking good?
Nutella of course LOL!

Who could ever resist that smile on Cade's face? :)

They had all eaten breakfast before going to swimming, but I still made pancakes just in case they wanted a snack...hehehe...pink pancakes this time.  And yes, they devoured them like they hadn't seen pancakes before LOL!

The gang left, but not without complaining about why they couldn't stay for the day until mom and dad come back for supper LOL!  Grandpa has a lot of work to catch up with and this grandma needs a bit of rest before the fun begins tonight!

Supper was delicious...yummy salmon and lots of leftovers for lunch today :)  The kids weren't too happy that mom and dad were staying for supper though.  Before they got in the back door, they were telling them to go home....hehehe!

So to make them happy we had an early supper so mom and dad could leave...which they did a little after 5:00. Then we all bundled up and went outside to play.  Hannah and Cade wanted to come in around 6:15, but Hailee and Grandpa stayed outside until after 7:00. That girl sure loves being outside.  She and Grandpa were having a great time throwing a ball from one side of the truck to the other, and Hailee hiding in the garage so Grandpa had to find her....and find her he did.  She came in and said "Grandma, did you hear me scream?"  She thought hiding against the second garage door (two car garage) that Grandpa wouldn't find her. But Grandpa scare the pants off her when he lifted the door from the outside LOL!  She was still talking about it this morning! After baths, snacks and some hot chocolate it was quiet time. All in all a great evening :)

Right after supper though, before mom and dad left, we Skyped Uncle Warren as it's his 35th birthday today!  Mom made yummy chocolate cupcakes from scratch (can't stop eating them once you start LOL) and the girls/Cade each decorated one, stuck a candle in each and we sang Happy Birthday to Uncle Warren...then we ate the cupcakes in front of him....hehehe!  Sorry Uncle Warren, maybe you can have one next time you come here!

 Happy Birthday Uncle Warren!

1...2...3....blow out those candles!!

Hmmmm....sleeping arrangements, yet to be decided.  Grandpa, I really think we need to get a king size bed so the girls and I can sleep all together LOL!

More later.

Good Super Bowl Sunday morning everyone!  We had a great night.  Sleeping arrangements were confirmed before bedtime last night.  Hannah, as usual, would sleep with Grandma. She and I are a good team. We're both hot and kick our covers off during the night LOL!

Hailee and Grandpa slept in the queen bed in Uncle Warren's old room, and Cade slept on the foam mats on the floor.  So everyone was happy :)

Just as I was crawling into bed around 11:00, Hailee came waltzing into the bedroom and tried to get into bed, on top of Hannah LOL!  Luckily I was able to get around the bed in time to pick her up. Grandpa came to get her and they went downstairs to bed.  Funny thing is Hailee doesn't remember that she did that last night LOL!

When grandpa first brought Hailee and Cade to bed around 8:00, Hailee fell asleep quickly...counting snowballs....hehehe!  Grandpa thought Cade was sleeping, but as soon as Grandpa came into the kitchen and closed the door to the stairs, we could hear little knocking at the door. There was Cade, saying "I was knocking at the door" LOL!  Little bum.  He went back down with Grandpa and was asleep in a matter of minutes.

Now if only Hannah and I could teach Grandpa, Hailee and Cade to be Q U I E T when they get up in the morning, we'd be happy.  Boy, they sure make a lot of noise...bursting into the bedroom, talking loudly. Hannah and I were quite content to stay cuddled in the bed, but nooooo way was that going to happen LOL!

After breakfast they all wanted to go outside again before mom and dad came to pick them up.  So out we went. I had great help refilling bird feeders, and helping them make a "cabin" in the deep snow in the back yard.  They sure have great imaginations at this age, and surprisingly, it makes us "oldsters" start using our imagination in ways we hadn't done in many, many years :)

Grandpa keeps a path shoveled around the back yard and the kids love wandering, exploring and again, using those imaginations :)  Thanks grandpa. We love those pathways :)

Pathway going around the back corner
brush pile that the birds just love :)

Daddy came at 10:00 to pick the kids up, but he had to take a walk and play in the backyard for a while first :)  Hailee said she loves our backyard...lots of nooks and crannies to wander through....and that their yard is boring LOL!  What a girl!

Until next visit!

Cough....Cough....

Oh my. It's been a rough couple of weeks for the grandkids.  Little Ms. Hannah was at the ER with mom and dad on Monday night. She had a bad cough/fever over the weekend and after bloodwork/xrays, she was diagnosed with Pneumonia :(  It's not the first time for her either.  It's a good thing she eats well. She'll be back to normal before long.

This morning our Mr. Tank....hehehe....came home from the doctor with the same diagnosis.  So now he'll be on nasty tasting meds too.  It's going to be a long week for mom who is home with them!

Hopefully both kiddos will be feeling better before long.,

Ahhhhh.....Love at First Sight :)

Wow, what a few days we've had!  Hubby had a conference to attend in Toronto, and I always go along for some R & R...or at least I tell myself that LOL!  Today is no different than any other time we've gone away....I come home exhausted. Too much walking, too much food (which I didn't have to cook...ya!), not enough good sleep/rest on hotel mattresses. Whatever the reason, I'm zonked.

Ahhhh....Love at first sight!
What a great big brother Keelan will be :)

However this visit was a bit different.  Our youngest son and his wife gave us a new granddaughter last Sunday, the 22nd, and we went over to visit them yesterday once the conference was finished. Little Aislin Zilla was only 6 days old and seemed sooooo tiny :)  It's been 3 years since our last babies arrived in the family, so this was a very special day.

Will you just look at that girl!  She's already waving
and she's only a week old LOL!

We only stayed for a couple hours as we knew our DIL was tired from having an almost 3 year old running around and adjusting to a new baby in the house, a new baby in the house, as well as losing her grandmother early yesterday morning. She lived a great, long and very interesting life. We should all be so lucky to live until we're 93 :)

This grandma wasn't going to waste any minute of our time together though and I got to cuddle little Aislin for almost 2 hours!  She slept the whole time.  Mom and Dad said she is such a good baby, sleeps through anything and only cries when she's hungry or tired :)  Shouldn't we have all been this lucky? LOL! Let me tell you, her daddy had colic for the first 6 months of his life, so they'd better appreciate this little one's laid back nature....hehehe!

 See....I told you, a wonderful weekend :)

We won't get to see her for another month when we go down for big brother's 3rd birthday, so we'll have to watch her grow through lots of pictures and Skype. Thank heaven for Skype. Anyone who hasn't signed up with Skype yet, really should. It's free and you can talk for hours with friends, loved ones, even business associates. As Martha says....it's a good thing :)

After our visit with Aislin, we drove a couple hours towards home to visit our middle son and his wife. After a delicious Japanese dinner we went back to their place and played cards, getting to bed after midnight.  Boy, it was hard getting up this morning. I am so looking forward to crawling into bed tonight.

All in all it was a wonderful weekend. What grandma could ask for anything more? :) Welcome little Aislin!
